FCC on schedule for cable merger comments

FCCToday 8/25/14 is the deadline for initial public comments on the nuptials of cable giants Comcast and Time Warner Cable, and the FCC has denied a request for a two-week extension. But not to worry.

According to The Hill, the request came from Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who cited the complexity of the deal in his request for more time.

The Commission stated that it has allowed plenty of time, pointing to the comment schedule it used for Comcast’s acquisition of NBC Universal as a precedent.

There are still two more opportunities for the Mayor to send in comments, however, during the periods made available to reply to the comments of other filers.

The remaining deadlines are 9/26/14 and 10/8/14, according to the Hill report.
