FCC OK Needed For Father-to-Daughter Station Transfer

A Class C3 Country station serving a string of communities to the north of Houston will stay in the family, pending FCC approval of a plan that transfers control of “KStar Country” from its owner to his daughter.

Benjamin Amato is passing on control of New Wavo Communications Group, licensee of KVST-FM 99.7 in Huntsville, Tex., to his daughter, Christine Amato.

It is a preemptive move, and is designed to allow Christine to act in Benjamin’s behalf in the event of his incapacity. Sadly, such an incapacity has transpired, paperwork filed with the Commission reveals.

“KStar Country” dates to 1999 and saw an intellectual property transfer to its current home after a 2005 transaction that saw Cumulus Broadcasting pay $32 million for a facility that is today Air1 Worship Music member station KHJK-FM 103.7 MHz in La Porte, Tex.
