With Kalil & Co. serving as the exclusive broker in the transaction, Curtis Media Group in late April filed paperwork with the FCC seeking its approval of a deal that would see it acquire four FMs, one AM and two FM translators in the Wilmington-New Bern-Jacksonville, N.C. market.
The Commission has granted its assignment of authorization request, paving a path toward an imminent closing date.
The deal widens the stable of stations Curtis owns in North Carolina as the seller, Capitol Broadcasting Corp. subsidiary Sunrise Broadcasting LLC, will now allow CBC to focus on its multimedia assets in the Triangle region.
The $1.75 million deal sees Curtis gaining the following properties:

Wilmington is an unrated portion of Eastern North Carolina when it comes to radio and for TV is within DMA No. 126. As such, the Greenville-New Bern-Jacksonville station roster held by Curtis Media is a non-factor with respect to Wilmington, wedged between the Greenville, NC DMA and Myrtle Beach-Florence, S.C.
