Ex-Paramount Exec Acosta To Lead Telemundo Studios

MIAMI — There is a new head of Telemundo Studios, and he will lead the NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises unit’s growth strategy and the development and production of scripted content for both linear and streaming platforms.


Juan C. “JC” Acosta takes the role, and he reports directly to NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Chief Content Officer Javier Pons.

In this new role, Acosta is now responsible for building, scaling and monetizing Telemundo Studios’ long and short-format scripted content including drama series, vertical formats and feature films, among others.

Acosta will also be asked to develop and manage long-term business plans, annual operating models, and greenlight evaluation frameworks across all Studios verticals. Working in alignment with NBCUniversal studios, he will collaborate across divisions and drive business development opportunities including strategic partnerships, co-productions, M&A, and international distribution models.

JC will contribute his expertise, business acumen and leadership to help us continue driving the growth of our scripted content creation capabilities for Hispanic audiences.”

Acosta was formerlyHead of Mediapro Studios for the U.S. and Canada, where he launched and scaled North American operations for the global studio, overseeing development, production, sales and strategic partnerships.

Previously, Acosta spent over 15 years at Paramount, where he held several leadership roles managing regional and global studio operations, most recently as President of International Studios, Streaming & Networks overseeing operations across 95 countries, 90 channels and 15 offices.

Earlier in his career, Acosta held financial roles at major media companies including Viacom, Telemundo Network, MGM Studios and the Walt Disney Company.
