After 43 years of working in, owning and running radio stations and radio broadcasting companies, the President/COO of Hubbard Radio retired at the end of 2019.
Sort of.
Drew Horowitz has joined the board of directors at a tech company offering back-office software products used across radio and TV stations.
Horowitz is now on the board of Marketron, the digital software company headquartered in Idaho.
Horowitz will help guide Marketron as the company says it its exploring “new opportunities for revenue growth” and “further innovation in support of the broadcast industry.”
Commenting on Horowitz’s involvement with Marketron, CEO Jim Howard says, “Drew has been a valuable advisor to Marketron for years, and we feel extremely privileged to now call him a Marketron board member. Drawing on his experience at all levels of the industry, Drew will continue to help us stay ahead of the curve in developing the products and services the radio industry needs in order to thrive. Like everyone at Marketron, he cares about the broadcast community, and he is committed to making radio as successful as it can be, even in these challenging times.”
Horowitz had been a part of the Hubbard Radio family since 2011, rising to his current role in July 2014 following the departure of the late Bruce Reese.
Before joining Hubbard Radio, Horowitz was the EVP/COO of Bonneville International, where his tenure began in 1992. His prior experience also includes leadership positions with Lakeshore Communications in Chicago, operator of WUSN-FM and the former WFYR-FM.
Hubbard in April 2011 acquired Bonneville’s station in Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis and Washington, D.C., for $505 million.
Following his retirement from Hubbard Radio, Horowitz founded Gemini Strategies & Advisories.
“In this period of uncertainty, it’s more important than ever to provide broadcasters with innovative new revenue-generation solutions and to foster successful adoption of digital tactics within their advertising portfolios,” Horowitz said. “I look forward to working even more closely with Marketron’s board members and executive team to achieve these goals and support the future of broadcasting.”
