Remember Tom Wheeler? The person who served as the press secretary to the most-recent former FCC Commissioner has a new job.
This individual went on to the Federal Trade Commission and, later, CTIA, the wireless communications industry’s trade association.
Now, he’s joining a Washington law firm.
Justin Cole, who was at the Commission until 2014, has taken the position of Senior Media Relations Manager at Perkins Coie LLP.
From March 2017 through January 2019, Cole served as Asst. VP for Public Affairs at CTIA.
For the prior three years, Cole was Director of Public Affairs & Communications at the FTC, where he conceived communications plans, including proactive, rebuttal and crisis strategies, which supported the FTC’s policy priorities and consumer protection mission, with a focus on the technology sector and antitrust challenges of corporate mergers.

For many in media, he is remembered for his 18 months of service as Press Secretary in the Office of the Chairman to Tom Wheeler, who was succeeded by Ajit Pai as the head of the FCC.
He joined the FCC in September 2012 and exited in February 2014.
Cole began his career as a professional journalist, working as an Energy-industry specialist for Dow Jones Newsletters from November 1996-December 1999.
