Ex-CNN Leader Fox Joining WABC-TV For Top Programming Role

Starting November 4, a veteran of CNN will begin overseeing the programming strategy for all non-news programs the ABC-owned station in New York is involved with — including “Live with Kelly and Mark,” the WABC-TV based syndicated program born as “The Morning Show” with Regis Philbin some 40 years ago.


Taking the VP/Programming post at ABC Owned Stations’ WABC-7 in New York is former CNN VP of News Mary Anne Fox. She begins her new role on November 4, reporting to President/GM Marilu Galvez. Fox takes duties previously held by Art Moore.

“Mary Anne Fox brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in crafting content that captivates and informs audiences,” said Galvez, noting that Fox will work with other department heads and manage programming strategies and scheduling for WABC-7. This role also includes leading the team that creates and produces local specials for the station. “Her outstanding reputation as a journalist, TV producer and manager, combined with her exceptional talent management skills, makes her the ideal addition to our team.”

At CNN, Fox directed the editorial content and daily operations of the New York Bureau, where she also led CNN’s business and legal units. She spent nearly a decade as a producer and senior producer for “Anderson Cooper 360.” derson Cooper, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Jeff Corwin and Lisa Ling. Fox joined CNN’s New York Bureau in 2014 as a regional newsgathering director, where she led news coverage across the northeast. Her career at CNN started in 2001 as a desk assistant in the New York Bureau. Shortly after, she joined “NewsNight with Aaron Brown.”
