On July 7, Streamline Publishing’s Radio Ink was first to report that Craig Swagler was saying goodbye to CBS News Radio, resigning as VP/General Manager in order to spend more time with his family and relocate from New York to Baltimore.
Now, Swagler has formally resurfaced, and he begins his new job on August 1.
Swagler has accepted the role of President/GM of “Your Public Radio,” home of NPR Spoken Word facility WYPR-FM 88.1 and Adult Alternative sibling WTMD-FM 89.7.
WYPR has a Class B1 signal that largely travels north and south of the city of Baltimore, covering the capital of Maryland, Annapolis. WTMD also has a Class B1 facility, but a small signal contour focused on the Baltimore metropolitan area.
YPR calls Swagler “a vision-driven and goal-focused executive, known for his ability to capture opportunities and explore new ways to expand brand reach and product offerings.”
Swagler will report to YPR Board Chair Lisa Manzone, who commented, “His extensive experience in the broadcast industry, coupled with his innovative mindset and community-building approach, will be invaluable as we continue to provide exceptional programming and expand our reach. We are confident that Craig’s leadership will lead Your Public Radio to even greater heights.”
Swagler will oversee all operations and provide strategic direction to a team of professionals across broadcast and digital content operations, news, engineering, fundraising, corporate underwriting, membership, marketing and communications, board relations, finance, and human resource management. He will also engage with board members, external business partners, as well as members of the Baltimore and Maryland regional arts, education, and public affairs communities.

Craig Swagler is a Board of Director and member of the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). He is also a member of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), and The National Press Club.
