In April 2021, RBR+TVBR first reported on the sale of WNUE-FM 98.1 by Entravision Communications — a move that would begin a wind-down of Orlando DMA operations for the multimedia company superserving Hispanic consumers in the U.S.
Now, the individual who most recently served as SVP/GM for Entravision/Orlando — a 2021 Medallas de Cortez finalist — has joined the broadcast television company that will soon be led by Soohyung Kim.
Humberto Hormaza has been hired by TEGNA to serve as President/GM of FOX affiliate WTIC-61 in Hartford and its Waterbury, Conn.-licensed sibling that serves as The CW Network affiliate for Hartford-New Haven, WCCT-20.
Hormaza takes the new role on Monday, March 7.
In this role, Hormaza will be responsible for overseeing the station’s operations across all platforms as well as leading the station’s focus on community service and driving results for advertisers.
Hormaza joins TEGNA’s Connecticut operations after eight years at Entravision’s Orlando operations.
“Humberto is a proven leader with an outstanding track record,” said Larry Delia, SVP of Media Operations at TEGNA. “I am pleased that he will be joining the talented team in Hartford to lead them in their next chapter of success.”
Before joining Entravision in 2014, Hormaza was LSM for América TeVe and TeVeo in Miami, which airs on WJAN-TV and WFUN-TV.
He has also been the business development manager at WFOR-4 and WBFS-33, CBS Stations in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market. He began his career as an account executive with WFOR-4.
