First, it was Esther-Mireya Tejeda, who last month departed Entercom Communications to take on the role of Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at SoundExchange.
On Friday, the audio media company’s VP of Corporate Communications and Public Relations exited — also for a role outside of the radio business.
Entercom wasted no time in announcing a new Chief Information Officer. But, this person won’t be taking on any of those individual’s duties.
Serving in the CIO role is Sarah Foss, who Entercom describes as “a seasoned media technology executive with over 25 years of experience and a comprehensive understanding of the media technology ecosystem.”
Foss comes to Entercom after most recently serving as SVP/Strategic Initiatives for FreeWheel Advertisers, a division of FreeWheel that provides a global media buying and selling platform to more than 1,200 advertising agencies around the world.
Before that, Foss was GM of Ad Tech for Imagine Communications, an advertising optimization and video infrastructure firm. She’s also been an executive at Harris Corp.
In this role, Foss will provide strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, acquisition, operation and support of the company’s enterprise technology systems and programs. She will also collaborate with cross-functional executives “to create a vision for how digital, data and analytics, and new technologies can help create a differentiated experience and drive efficiency in operations.”
As such, Foss’ role is clearly different than that of the two women who had been handling all external communication for Entercom with the trade press and general-market media.
On Friday, RBR+TVBR learned that Jennifer Morales, one of the few women of color within the upper ranks of Entercom, immediately departed.
“It has been a true pleasure working with you and I thank you sincerely for all of your support,” Morales said in e-mail communication distributed after 5pm Eastern Friday.
Morales was based out of Entercom’s New York offices in lower Manhattan, home to such corporate executives as Chief Digital Officer J.D. Crowley as well as the offices and studios of its New York stations, including WCBS-AM & FM.
In the interim, Senior Associate for Corporate Communications and PR David Heim will serve as the main point of contact at Entercom on a corporate level.
While Tejeda opted to transition, at her own volition, to a role in the music industry, the circumstances surrounding Morales’ move are unclear. However, they may have something to do with her physical location since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Morales’ husband is employed by a London-based company, and she has been telecommuting to New York since the start of the pandemic in mid-March.
Still, Morales and Tejeda have the same career experience. Tejeda had been at Entercom since July 2016, when she exited as Univision Communications’ Director of Corporate Communications for her first-ever role at a company solely focused on audio content and radio.
Morales joined Entercom in September 2017, following a two-year stint as Univision Communications’ PR Manager, working under Tejeda.
Morales’ early career highlights include serving as a fashion and beauty writer at People en Español.
