Two stations are changing hands and two more are affected in dealings between Educational Media Foundation and Spanish Peaks Broadcasting Inc. The complex arrangement involves two FMs, two FM translators and other agreements.
The basic deal is a swap/sale. KNFL-FM CP Charlo MT is going to EMF in exchange for K281BK Missoula and $250K cash. But not all of KNFL is going to EMF – the calls will remain with SFB.
The KNFL CP is for a Class C2 on 97.5 MHz with 2.1 kW @ 2,028’.
K281BK is of course a Class D, on 104.1 MHz with 99 W @ 75’.
In addition to the swap/sale, SFB has promised to lower its 104.5 MHz KKVU-FM Stevensville MT from a Class C0 to C1, and it will also offer no resistance to EMF’s plan to take its own translator, K229BU Missoula from 99 W to 250 W and co-locate it with KNFL. The facility broadcasts on 93.7 MHz.
