As first reported by RBR+TVBR on Dec. 20, a major provider of FM and AM transmitters in business since 1959 — and a 40-year player in the transmitter sales arena — has been acquired by a global manufacturer of FM transmitters based in Ferrara, Italy.
Elenos is now the owner of Broadcast Electronics (BE).
As Jeff Wilson, Director of U.S. Sales and Marketing for BE, sees it, “employees of BE and Elenos, our customers and broadcasters throughout the world, vendors, and partners everywhere were shocked to learn that Elenos is acquiring BE.” The deal also caught the city of Quincy, Ill.—home to BE—off guard.
“Since that announcement, there have been many e-mails, calls, and questions regarding this acquisition,” Wilson notes.
In an attempt to try to answer some of these questions, Wilson had a conversation with Elenos Group President Leonardo Busi and BE President/CEO Tom Beck.
