A Class B1 noncommercial FM signal that serves northern Santa Barbara County and much of the Five Cities of southern San Luis Obispo County is being sold by the broadcast ministry behind the “RadioU” Christian Rock network.
Who’s the buyer? Look no further than Noel Díaz.
Spirit Communications, licensee of stations under the RadioU brand, is saying goodbye to its lone California property by agreeing to sell KRQZ-FM 91.5 in Lompoc to El Sembrador Ministries, which uses the “ESNE” name with its Spanish-speaking evangelical audience.
ESNE is led by Díaz, who holds 14.3% attributable interest in the ministry alongside Director Javan Díaz and Rev. Mario Torres, along with four others at the Chatsworth, Calif.-based operation.
ESNE’s flagship station is KTYM-AM in Los Angeles, and programming can be heard on stations in Chicago; Riverside-San Bernardino; Las Vegas; Monterey-Salinas; Bakersfield; Houston; Denver; Yakima, Wash.; Salt Lake City; San Diego; and in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Now, it is adding Hispanic-rich Santa Maria and Lompoc, a city adjacent to Vandenberg Air Force Base.
A $195,000 purchase price has been agreed to. A 10% deposit is being held by the law office of Dennis J. Kelly.
Serving as Spirit’s broker of record is Brett Miller of MCH Enterprises.
With the sale of KRQZ, RadioU’s broadcast properties are now confined to one in Oklahoma; two in Michigan; and seven in Ohio.
