To many, he’s a longtime media broker known for his popular series of podcasts co-hosted by retired Washington, D.C. communications attorney Erwin Krasnow, recently in the news for his role as the broker of a station sale involving Genuine Texas Radio in Austin.

In February 2020, this familiar figure took a role at an audio codec manufacturer, serving as VP of Sales for the Americas.

Now, Doug Ferber is focusing once again on the buying and selling of radio stations in the U.S.

Ferber confirmed the news last week, with the Texas radio transaction that saw the sale of properties in the Lone Star State’s capital to Norsan Media.

It concludes a three-year tenure at Tieline, where the industry veteran was responsible for promoting and selling Tieline products throughout the U.S. and Latin America.

Tieline manufactures STL, audio distribution and remote broadcast digital audio codecs. The company has offices in North America and Australia, supporting a global distribution network.

According to Ferber, business has slowed of late, leading him to return to DEFCom Advisors. He is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and has been the President and owner of DEFcom since February 2009.

Ferber’s early career stints include a role as VP/GM for Interep Radio Sales, opening the Dallas office. He later spent a decade as a Senior Associate at Star Media Group.
