Lockwood Broadcast Group is now officially in the driver’s seat at WBXX-TV in Knoxville TN, the 59th-ranked DMA per Nielsen’s ranking statistics. CobbCorp was the broker of record on the deal, working on behalf of seller ACME Communications Inc.

The price of the station was $5.6M cash. It was filed with the FCC earlier this year, on 2/4/11. It’s a CW affiliate.
Lockwood President Dave Hanna said at the time the purchase was announced, “We’re excited about the addition of this outstanding property to our group – we think the market and the station present a tremendous opportunity for our company. And, we like what the acquisition signals to the industry: Lockwood has been looking for, and will continue to seek, opportunity for growth.”

WBXX is the fourth station in the Lockwood portfolio. It joins CW WQCW-TV in Charleston-Huntington WV, CW WHDF-TV in Huntsville-Decatur AL, and KTEN-TV Sherman TX-Ada OK, which carries programming from NBC, ABC and CW.
