Diverse Media Owners: From Who’s Next To Getting The Cash

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As Graham “Skip” Dillard, Brand Manager of Audacy Corp.’s Classic Hip-Hop WXBK “94.7 The Block” in New York, looks back on his career in radio, two things are clear with respect to minority representation in media.


First, he said at a FCC diversity symposium on Tuesday, “A number of owners wound up being very successful got lucky … fell into it and wound up learning as they went. Others had less success in that route. And, very few were very educated, prepared, and really knew where they could be prepared.”

What does the future hold for those seeking to be where Dillard sits today? That was the focal point of a panel discussion at the Commission’s Communications Equity and Diversity Council Media Ownership Diversity Symposium.
