Discovery en Español Boasts Highest Q3 on Record.  Discovery Familia Ranks #1 among Preschoolers.

Powered by popular series and winning specials, Discovery U.S. Hispanic continues its record breaking momentum with its flagship network Discovery Español, delivering yet another winning quarter in Q3, following a record Q1 and Q2 in 2011.

Discovery en Español closed Q3 with its highest primetime performance on record (Hispanic viewers 18-49), and also maintained its stronghold on the #2 position (since 2009) among all Hispanic Pay TV channels (Mon-Sun 7-11pm) across key demographics (P18-34, M18-34, F18-34; P35-49, M35-49, F35-49; P25-54, M25-54, F25-54).

According to Nielsen, Discovery en Español continued to expand its core target audience of P18-49 during primetime in Q3 (+6%), while also experiencing large increases among 18-34 year old viewers, with double digit growth across the board as compared to the same period last year (P18-34 + 15%, M18-34 + 12% F18-34 +22%).

Original series like Deadly Women / Las verdaderas mujeres asesinas (72K P18-49), which returns with a new season in Q4, brought a considerable increase in audience in its time slot compared to last year (+106% among P18-49). The primetime winning streak was also driven by the success of the Discovery Presenta block, which regularly ranks #1 against all pay TV networks on Sundays at 10pm.

Part of the Discovery U.S. Hispanic portfolio of networks, Discovery Familia has been publicly measured by Nielsen since the start of this quarter and is also outperforming with impressive growth and an enthusiastic audience reception. The network is now available in 3 million Hispanic TV homes. It is currently the #1 Hispanic Pay TV channel from 6am-7pm among preschool kids 2-5 years old and # 1 with K2-11 years old.
Some of Discovery Familia’s top performers include: Vamos con Bo, Fifi y los floriguitos and Louie among K2-11 and Rebaja y reduce, Detectives de salud and La moda por menos during primetime among F18-49.
