A contract has been filed with the FCC regarding the sale of a low power FM station serving a small portion of inland central Florida. It’s a transaction that may not fly.
The station is WIFL-LP Weirsdale FL.
The station is on 104.5 MHz with 100 W @ 82’. It serves unrated territory southeast of Ocala. The seller is The Marconi Broadcasting Foundation, headed by President Michael Cardillo.
The buyer is Lake Weir Chamber of Commerce, headed by President Daniel Shimasaki.
The price is $10,000 cash.
And therein lies the problem. It is perfectly legal to transfer an LPFM license, but it is against the rules to sell one. We suspect the parties will have to go back to the drawing board if they want this transaction to move forward.
