We knew that Saga Communications was acquiring the Verstanding cluster in Harrisonville VA. Now we know how much it will be paying, and we’ll toss in some more information on the deal while we’re at it.
Saga is picking up two AMs, three FMs and one translator in the deal.
The seller is M. Belmont Verstandig Inc., headed by President John D. Verstandig.
The buyer is Tidewater Communications LLC, a subsidiary of Saga Communications Inc., headed by Edward K. Christian.
The price is $9,640,000 cash.
Christian said, “These stations fit very well into our model of owning heritage radio stations that are very tightly focused on serving their local communities. We look forward to working with the existing staff to continue the great heritage that these stations have established. Saga intends to continue building its business in both the radio and television markets by identifying and acquiring middle market stations.”

* WSVA-AM Harrisonburg VA is a Class B on 550 kHz with 5 kW-D, 1 kW-N, DAN. Format: News-Talk-Sports.
* WHBG-AM Harrisonburg VA is a Class D on 1360 kHz with 5 kW-D, 9 W-N. Format: Sports.
* WJDV-FM Broadway VA is a Class B1 on 96.1 MHz with 2.6 kW @ 1,010’. Format: AC.
* WTGD-FM Bridgewater VA is a Class A on 105.1 MHz with 6 kW @ 328’. Format: Rock.
All of the stations do a fine job of serving Harrisonburg signal-wise. Additionally, WQPO-FM sneaks into parts of Charlottesville. Most of the others get there with secondary contours.
