KDSP-FM’s days as a Sports outlet in the Mile High City market may be numbered. It’s headed for a future without commercials when its proposed sale makes it to closure.
The deal carries a healthy seven-figure price tag.
The seller is Front Range Sports Network LLC, head by Thomas Manoogian.
The buyer is Public Broadcasting of Colorado Inc., headed by President Max Wycisk.
The price is $5,750,000 cash.
KDSP-FM is licensed to Greenwood Village CO. It’s a Class A on 102.3 MHz with 1 kW @ 781’.
The station’s contour beams in from the west and gets most of the city, missing the easternmost areas of dense population. Its contour is basically a semicircle, projecting to the east and running headlong into the Rocky Mountains to the west.
PBC is well-represented throughout the state, with three AMs, nine FMs and seven translators in its portfolio, including the prize Colorado market of Denver, where it has four stations, including two AMs and two FMs (one of the FMs is licensed to nearby Boulder). This will add yet another in the market.
The deal includes a translator located in Boulder CO.
An LMA will begin 1/27/15, and provides for a term of 18 months.
