Gregory K. Merilatt is one of three Merilatts contracting to acquire KDCO-AM Golden CO, an AM station bringing sports programming to parts of the Denver market.
Gregory holds 88% of 4-K’s LLLP, the proposed buyer of the station. Jeffrey K. and James K. Merilatt each hold 5.5% of the company.
The deal also includes K231BQ Golden CO.
The total value of the deal: $550,000. It is, for the most part, a seller paper deal. The compensation package includes a $50K escrow deposit, $100K cash at closing and a $400K promissory note that extends six years from closing.
Victor A. Michael Jr. is the seller. Advanced Modulation Broadcasting LLC is the license company for the AM, and Cedar Cove Broadcasting is the license company for the translator. According to the contract, the proceeds of the sale are to be divided equally by AMB and CCB.
The AMgoes by the moniker Mile High Sports. It’s a Class B on 1550 kHz with 990 W-D, 350 W-N, DAN.
KDCO projects a primary signal over the northwest portion of the urbanized area and makes it up to Boulder during the day, and is not quite so robust at night. The translator, on 94.1 MHz, puts a primary contour over the western portion of the city only.
These will be the buyer’s only broadcast facilities.
