CRTC Questions Corus Over ‘QR Calgary’ Move

As RBR+TVBR first reported on January 9, CFGQ-FM 107.3, a 100kw facility that since 2004 has been branded as Classic Rock “Q107,” officially began simulcasting CHQR “QR77” at 5:30am local time.

While simulcasts of full-power AM News/Talk stations on full-power FM stations are commonplace in the U.S., it’s not in Canada. And, the nation’s equivalent of the FCC hasn’t taken too kindly to the plan from owner Corus Entertainment to abandon Q107 in favor of shared programming on two big signals.
