On Monday (3/25), Apple Inc. unveiled what Reuters is calling “an ambitious new entertainment and paid digital news service” as it enters the video-on-demand and “OTT” fray. The news comes as the iPad Mini returns, and Apple stock is on a healthy rebound from a disastrous December.
The service, which many believe is being launched as a competitor to Netflix, will likely not feature content from one major news source.
It’s a great learning lesson for radio, and only validates a 2018 decision by Entercom Communications regarding the digital distribution of its owned content.
