Comscore Celebrates A Client Win With ‘AZTV7’

It bills itself as “the only locally owned and operated broadcast station” in the sprawling Phoenix DMA, which includes the Verde Valley city of Prescott. It reaches viewers across The Valley of the Sun and to the north, in Sedona, Cottonwood and Flagstaff, too.

Just how big the AZTV7 audience is will now be the job of the company seeking to gain more TV measurement business from privately held Nielsen, which is in the midst of a major leadership restructuring.

KAZT-7, which uses digital channel 7 and PSIP 7 to reach viewers via a tower in Prescott, has signed an agreement with Comscore to use its local TV currency as the primary source to sell and post advertising buys.

“With Comscore’s database of 340,000+ homes in the Phoenix market, KAZT can now offer greater stability in its measurement and granular reporting down to the quarter hour, as well as greater accuracy and delivery to KAZT’s advertiser base,” Comscore said in making the announcement Wednesday morning.

KAZT General Manager Rick Soltesz commented, “Based on the growing agency demand in the Phoenix market for Comscore’s currency, we decided to partner with Comscore. This robust data set will allow us to not only highlight the size of our audience but also the quality to advertisers looking to reach Phoenix viewers.”

Comscore will be used alongside other data from sources such as Marshall Marketing, Nielsen-owned Scarborough, WideOrbit, and Cox Reps Television Analytics.

KAZT is owned by Londen Media. CEO Lynn Londen commented, “Partnering with Comscore to utilize its local TV currency is an important step for KAZT. We need to keep pace with the fast-changing viewer and it’s clear that Comscore can help us do that through its delivery of next-generation research that has already been adopted by television selling and buying communities in Phoenix and nationally.”

Carol Hinnant, Chief Revenue Officer at Comscore, added, “This partnership is a testament to the work we’ve done to provide the most accurate and reliable source of audience measurement and advanced advertising solutions to bring local market buying and selling closer to the way national investment is transacted today.”

KAZT — home of such syndicated fare as Family Feud, The Goldbergs, Young Sheldon, and Rachael Ray — enjoys MVPD coverage in the Phoenix area and is on Dish and DirecTV lineups. It has studios in both Prescott and in Phoenix, and uses a series of LPTVs to reach viewers. In Phoenix, it uses KAZT-CD.

AZTV7 is also home to MeTV (Ch. 7.2); HSN Home Shopping Network (Ch. 7.3); Charge Network (Ch. 7.4) and AZTV Local Plus (Ch. 7.5).
