Comcast kicked off its annual holiday programming today with the launch of The Yule Log – the iconic video of a crackling log in a fireplace accompanied by festive holiday music – On Demand for the first time ever in next-generation 3D. Comcast customers can also enjoy 100 holiday movies and holiday-themed TV shows On Demand, along with programs that feature holiday activities, music videos, karaoke and entertaining tips for free. In addition, Comcast customers can watch holiday movies like Four Christmases and classic holiday-themed TV shows online like The Twilight Zone, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show at XfinityTV.com — many for free.
“This holiday season, we have something to keep everyone in the family entertained,” said Diana Kerekes, Vice President of Entertainment Services for Comcast. “Every holiday season, we see a significant increase in customers using On Demand and this year, our holiday programming is stacked with classics, top TV shows and movies available both On Demand and online.”
The Yule Log On Demand
The Yule Log, originally created in 1966 by Fred Thrower, president and CEO of WPIX in New York City, has become an American classic, generating more than four million views in just a month’s time On Demand last holiday season alone. This year, customers can watch The Yule Log in standard-definition, high-definition and in next-generation 3D, or pick from a dozen other holiday-themed screen savers to get into the holiday spirit On Demand.
Holiday Films and TV On Demand and Online
Comcast customers can watch a collection of more than 100 holiday movies featuring popular films such as A Christmas Story, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street, The Santa Clause, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and other holiday hits On Demand. Customers can view three different versions of the Nutcracker including the Royal Ballet of London, the Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet and the Noisette Circus Ballet of Monte Carlo production of The Nutcracker throughout the holiday season. Additionally, customers can watch holiday movies, holiday-themed TV shows and cooking tips from some of TV’s top culinary experts including Bobby Flay, the Barefoot Contessa and Paula Dean online at XfinityTV.com.
Holiday Activities, Tips and More On Demand
Customers can find a broad array of holiday activities and tips On Demand for free including holiday karaoke with songs such as Winter Wonderland and Deck The Halls, as well as holiday music videos like Bob Dylan’s Must Be Santa and Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. Comcast is also bringing customers a variety of holiday tips from Martha Stewart and a range of activities like crafts, games, trivia and magic tricks to keep kids busy during the holidays.
