Prior to its sale by Bert Ellis, he served as President and General Manager of KDOC-56 in Los Angeles. Most recently, he was VP/GM of Sinclair Broadcast Group‘s two Wichita, Kansas stations.

Now, he’s heading to Northern California to serve as VP/GM of the three television stations owned by Sinclair in Chico — and will also oversee Sinclair’s shared services agreement with the market’s FOX affiliate.

Joining Sinclair for the role is John Manzi.

His new duties will have him oversee ABC affiliate KRCR-7, MyNetwork TV affiliate KRVU-TV and Univision affiliate KUCO-TV, in addition to Cunningham Broadcasting-owned KCVU-20.

Manzi will continue to report to Sinclair COO and President of Broadcast Rob Weisbord.

“When we brought John to Sinclair to lead the stations in Wichita, we knew he would be a great addition to the executive team,” Weisbord said. “He will now shift his leadership and business skills to Chico and we’re confident he will continue his track record of successfully growing the stations and their revenue.”

Manzi added, “I’m fortunate to be able to return to California and join the Northstate’s leading news team. I look forward to immersing myself into this beautiful landscape and to building on the stations’ stellar reputation in the community.”

Before running unaffiliated KDOC, Manzi served as VP/GM of KRCW-TV in Portland, Ore. Previously, he served in such roles as Local Sales Manager at KWGN-TV in Denver and as National Sales Manager of WUPL-TV in New Orleans, LA. He began his media career as an Account Executive for TeleRep in New York.

Manzi is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy
