She began her career at KABC-7 in Los Angeles as a morning producer of the Eyewitness News 5am newscast, later transitioning to producing the 4pm and 5pm newscasts.

Now, Pam Chen is the first Asian American to lead a news department at a network-owned local TV station in the No. 2 DMA in the U.S.

She reports directly to President/GM Cheryl Fair, who calls Chen “an innovative journalist, producer, mentor and leader at KABC, equally and fiercely dedicated to both the success of Eyewitness News and the people in the newsroom that she works with daily. Pam shows that hard work, character, compassion and commitment are the ingredients for success. I am confident in her leadership and look forward to what is to come.”

Chen has been with KABC for 15 years and was instrumental in the launch and syndication of KABC’s first weekly entertainment show, “On the Red Carpet.” The syndicated show profiled the red carpet moments of celebrities at the Oscars, the American Music Awards, and select feature film premieres.

Prior to joining KABC-7 in November 2004, she spent a year as a News Producer for KTLA-5 in L.A. She started her career at former all-News KFWB-AM 980 in Los Angeles as a news producer, in 2001.
