It’s a Morgan Murphy Media broadcast TV station branded as “Channel 3000” and serves Wisconsin’s state capital. As of early March, WISC-TV will have a new VP/General Manager. He arrives from Sinclair Inc., and a position overseeing sales and marketing for one of its stations in Salt Lake City.

Taking the role is Scot Chastain, who spent more than two decades at NBC, and departed in spring 2018 as EVP/Affiliate Marketing & Development.

In November 2018, he resurfaced as VP/GM of WLNS-TV in Lansing, Mich., today a Nexstar Media Group property, and in March 2020 relocated to Sacramento to serve as VP/GM of Nexstar-owned KTXL “FOX 40.”

Chastain departed Nexstar in July 2023 to take the post of Director of Sales and Marketing at CBS affiliate KUTV-2 and sibling properties KJZZ-TV and KMYU-TV in Salt Lake City.

“Scot Chastain’s depth of broadcasting and media leadership really stands out,” said Brian Burns, who serves as EVP/COO of Morgan Murphy Media. “He has a strong vision for
how to lead and grow a local media organization and has the results to prove it. We have a unique set of challenges and opportunities in front of us in local broadcasting. The need for high quality local news, information and local programming is as greater than ever and I’m
confident Scot will be the right person to find ways to deepen our engagement with local audiences and build creative and effective solutions for advertisers.”

In Madison, Chastain will also oversee Morgan Murphy-owned monthly publication Madison
Magazine and a local digital agency, Phase 3 Digital.

Chastain commented,  “I am looking forward to driving even greater success for the Madison businesses and across the entire portfolio for brand, content, digital, revenue and
operations. The reputation of the company precedes itself and I am excited to be a part of the team.”

Chastain started his career in Bryan-College Station, Tex., in April 1985 as a Production, Operations and Promotions Manager for KBTX-TV. He would later serve as a promotion writer and producer at WXII-TV in Greensboro, and from February 1993-January 1995 was Director of Marketing for WDSU-TV in New Orleans.

In related news, Morgan Murphy Media will be the new home for daily Green Bay Packers coverage from Jason Wilde.
