Cecil Heftel, Radio showman and former Congressman died

Cecil Heftel was a former congressman from Hawaii but many in radio will remember him as a great broadcaster and a better showman.  Heftel passed away Thursday, 02/04/10, he was 85. 


According to his family and reports Heftel had been in failing health and passed away of natural causes.

Heftel was a top of the line showman and demonstrated it in every way including giving away $1,000 every hour to anyone that answered their phone: ‘I listen to the New Sound of 13Q’. $1,000 doesn’t sound like a lot but remember that was $1,000 in 1974 money and it worked. We could use a Cecil Heftel today in the radio business.
