CBS wins the week

CBSCBS won in viewers for the sixth time in seven weeks even with television’s top two dramas (NCIS, NCIS: LOS ANGELES) and top new drama (VEGAS) preempted for election coverage, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Nov. 11, Week Seven of the 2012-2013 season.


THE BIG BANG THEORY, the week’s #1 scripted program in key demographics, also delivered its largest audience ever (16.68m), while TWO AND A HALF MEN, PERSON OF INTEREST, BLUE BLOODS and 48 HOURS all hit season highs in viewers.

UNDERCOVER BOSS jumped +27% in adults 18-49 in its second broadcast and topped ABC comedies “Last Man Standing” and “Malibu Country” in viewers and key demographics.

CBS had the top three scripted programs of the week:  THE BIG BANG THEORY, PERSON OF INTEREST and TWO AND A HALF MEN and four of the top five (with CRIMINAL MINDS fifth).

CBS also had eight of the top 20 programs in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 – more than any other network.

For the week in viewers:  CBS (9.34m), NBC (8.83m), ABC (8.00m) and FOX (6.34m). Season-to-date:  CBS (11.66m), ABC (9.05m), NBC (8.79m) and FOX (7.12m).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was second in adults 25-54 (2.9/07) and averaged 2.2/06 in adults 18-49.   Season-to-date, CBS and NBC are tied for first in adults 25-54, with CBS a solid second in adults 18-49.

For the week in households:  CBS (6.0/10), NBC (5.4/09), ABC (5.1/08) and FOX (3.8/06).  Season-to-date:  CBS (7.4/12), ABC (5.8/09), NBC (5.5/09) and FOX (4.3/07).

CBS Weekly Highlights:

2 BROKE GIRLS (5.5/08, 9.01m) was second in adults 25-54 (4.0/08) and adults 18-49 (3.2/08).  2 BROKE GIRLS was Monday’s #1 scripted program in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES was first in households (6.4/10) and viewers (10.31m), and was second in both adults 25-54 (3.9/09) and adults 18-49 (2.8/07).

CRIMINAL MINDS was first in households (7.8/12) and viewers (12.09m).  CRIMINAL MINDS was up +7% in households (from 7.3/11), +3% in adults 25-54 (4.0/09 from 3.9/09) and added +480,000 viewers (from 11.61m, +4%) compared to the last non-breakout episode (on Oct. 24).

CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (6.8/11), viewers (10.33m), adults 25-54 (3.0/07) and adults 18-49 (2.3/06).  CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was up +5% in households (from 6.5/11) and added +380,000 viewers (from 9.95m, +4%) compared to the last non-breakout episode (on Oct. 24).

— On Thursday, CBS was first in households (8.7/14), viewers (13.75m), adults 25-54 (4.6/11) and adults 18-49 (3.3/09).

THE BIG BANG THEORY swept its time period, finishing first in households (10.4/16), viewers (16.68m), adults 25-54 (6.9/17), adults 18-49 (5.1/15) and adults 18-34 (3.5/15).  THE BIG BANG THEORY was the night’s #1 program in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.   THE BIG BANG THEORY posted series-high household ratings and viewer delivery, posted its best delivery in adults 25-54 since Feb. 9, 2012 and its best adults 18-49 delivery since Feb. 16, 2012.

TWO AND A HALF MEN was first in households (8.8/13), viewers (14.07m), adults 25-54 (5.6/13) and adults 18-49 (4.0/11).  TWO AND A HALF MEN posted its best viewers delivery since Dec. 12, 2011, best adults 25-54 ratings since Feb. 20, 2012 and matched season-high adults 18-49 ratings.

PERSON OF INTEREST was first in households (9.4/14), viewers (14.87m) and adults 25-54 (4.4/10), and was second in adults 18-49 (2.9/08).  PERSON OF INTEREST posted its best deliveries in households and viewers since March 8, 2012, its best adults 25-54 performance since March 29, 2012 and matched its second-best adults 18-49 performance this season.

ELEMENTARY was first in households (7.1/12), viewers (10.90m), adults 25-54 (3.2/08) and adults 18-49 (2.2/06).  Compared to the last first-run, non-breakout episode (on Oct. 25), ELEMENTARY was up +4% in households (from 6.8/11), +7% in adults 25-54 (from 3.0/07), even in adults 18-49 and added +590,000 viewers (from 10.31m, +6%).

UNDERCOVER BOSS was first in households (5.8/10), viewers (9.02m), adults 25-54 (2.8/08) and adults 18-49 (1.9/06).  Compared to the program’s season premiere (a breakout) last week, UNDERCOVER BOSS was up +12% in households (from 5.2/09), +27% in both adults 25-54 (from 2.2/06) and adults 18-49 (from 1.5/05) and added +1.06m viewers (from 7.96m, +13%).

BLUE BLOODS won its time slot in households (7.4/12), viewers (11.32m) and adults 25-54 (2.2/06), and was second in adults 18-49 (1.5/05, -0.1 behind ABC).  BLUE BLOODS posted its season-best deliveries in households and viewers, matched its season-best adults 18-49 ratings and matched its second-best adults 25-54 delivery this season.

48 HOURS was first in households (4.3/08) and was second in viewers (6.03m), adults 25-54 (1.7/05) and adults 18-49 (1.2/04).  48 HOURS posted its best deliveries in these measures since May 12, 2012.
