Dan Cates recently retired after a long and distinguished career, concluding his tenure as General Manager of Gray Television‘s CBS affiliate serving Charleston, S.C.
We now know who will be taking over as GM for the station.
Now GM of WCSC-“LIVE 5,” branded as “The Lowcountry’s News Leader,” is General Sales Manager Brian Daugherty.
Daugherty began his career in media over 20 years ago in Baton Rouge, in print and digital advertising sales. In 2014, he helped launch a digital marketing agency.
But, in 2017, Daugherty shifted to television broadcasting by joining Gray-owned WAFB-0, the CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, as a digital advertising specialist. In 2019, WAFB promoted him to Local Sales Manager. Three years later, he relocated to Charleston to take the GSM role at “LIVE 5.”
Gates had been VP/GM at WCSC since April 21, 2016, and was hired by Raycom Media. He was formerly VP/GM of WJHL-TV in Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol.
