QVC breaks affiliate contract; are contracts worth the bother?
A northeast corridor market affiliate was treated rather shabbily by the QVC network. RBR-TVBR was told that the station had a signed contract with QVC and has been carrying their multicast signal since mid-April. QVC complained about the lack of orders. However QVC seems to not understand how low Summer HUT levels are, let alone what a HUT is, the affiliate told us. He then says QVC went behind facilities back and signed a master contract with ION Media for the local Albany ION TV station (WYPX-TV), which is licensed to Amsterdam, NY. So QVC has gone from 3,200 feet and great penetration to a full power at the dial’s end on a short stick in a deep valley, west of the market’s center.
