Waco, TX public radio station KWBU staffers and supporters are gearing up for a $50,000 listener fundraiser to move the station’s tower for improved reception. The total cost is estimated at $150K. KWBU (Classical/NPR) told the Waco Tribune that moving the station’s site from the tower off Interstate 35 near west Robinson to a taller tower (American Tower Co.) on higher ground near State Highway 6 and State Highway 84 — will boost the station’s signal into areas plagued by spotty reception. The station’s 2,700-watt signal will not increase.
