It's not often that Educational Media Foundation, parent of the Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) formats KLOVE and Air1, opts to sell a radio station. Yet, that's what it's doing with a Class C3 facility just south of Bismarck, North Dakota.

A Class C2 FM in Oregon has been sold to an entity that has been operating the facility via a Time Brokerage Agreement since June 2016. Meanwhile, Educational Media Foundation is at the transactions table once again, as its swapping translators with Spirit Communications. Those are the key deals in RBR + TVBR’s TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

The State of Wisconsin - Educational Communications Board is picking up an FM translator in a Wisconsin city expressly to rebroadcast the HD3 programming on one of its Wisconsin Public Radio stations.

A Class C2 FM serving the city where retail giant Walmart is based has just been sold for more than $1 million. That’s the king deal in RBR + TVBR’s TRANSACTIONS TODAY. The other deal involves Christopher Miller’s Rocking M Media, and its entry into Southern California.

In November 2016, RBR + TVBR reported that Radio One had acquired an FM translator and planned to ship it to Richmond, where it would be used to rebroadcast WXGI-AM 950. There was one slight issue: WXGI was Richmond’s “ESPN Radio” affiliate and controlled by Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder’s Red Zebra Broadcasting. That problem has now been resolved, as Radio One is acquiring WXGI along with an FM in the D.C. suburbs from Red Zebra.

In the final months of 2016, Red Rock Radio Corp., started the process of liquidating its assets. By Dec. 1, 16 of the company’s 20 radio stations were sold and awaited closing. Now, another two stations have been sold by Red Rock, with Kalil & Co. serving as the their broker representative. This is the lead deal in RBR + TVBR’s TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Thursday, April 20.

On Monday, RBR + TVBR's TRANSACTIONS TODAY reported the sales of KBZD-FM 99.7 in Amarillo, Tex., and KQFX-FM 104.3 in Borger, Texas by Tejas Broadcasting. We now know there's a Part Three to the story, as Tejas has found a very economical way to keep KQFX's programming on the FM band. It's also lassoed an FM home for ESPN Radio in the Lone Star market.

A pair of transactions involving FM radio stations in the Amarillo, Tex., market have been finalized. Both deals just happen to see Bill Whitley of the Dallas office and George Reed of the Jacksonville office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive brokers representing the seller.

The top deal in RBR + TVBR’s TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Monday, April 17 sees a heritage Polish-language AM station in the Windy City gain an FM signal. This is all thanks to a translator, but not the kind that can tell you what the greeting "Dzień Dobry!" means in English.

Kona Coast Radio is dealing away its home for Mile High Sports in Denver. Sound familiar? That's because the asset purchase agreement, filed Thursday with the FCC, comes two years and five months after an agreement was struck between the two parties for a different AM that once held the calls for the station involved in this deal.

Here's some news that may read a little odd: Educational Media Foundation is selling a few broadcast media properties. The prolific religious noncomm led by CEO Mike Novak has been one of the most voracious buyers of radio stations across the U.S. of late, so it's perhaps notable that it is making any sort of divestment.
