It has just 130 watts of power, but that’s enough to cover the Huntington, W. Va.-Ashland, Ky.-Ironton, Ohio market. For Kindred Communications, this coverage is worthy enough of an investment, as it is purchasing an FM translator from a broadcast ministry it’s been leasing for a Sports Talker.
Kindred is agreeing to purchase W227CI at 93.3 MHz in Catlettsburg, Ky., from Radio By Grace.
Kindred, formerly known as Fifth Avenue Broadcasting Inc., is paying $9,400 for the FM translator.
Kindred already uses W227CI as a rebroadcast partner of WCMI-AM in Ashland, a Sports Talk station branded as “Cat Sports.”
Now, it is poised to own the FM translator it has been leasing outright.
