According to the Cartersville Daily Tribune, “News talk 1270” WYXC-AM came under new ownership 12/21 by employees John and Brandi Underwood took. They’re joined by their partner Greg Detscher. Cartersville is about 50 miles NW of Atlanta.

The Underwoods, who had served at the station since its revival in 2010, said negotiations for the change began in October after previous station owner Tommy Young approached them about a purchase.

“Tommy asked if we’d be interested in purchasing it, we said yes and it just sort of went from there,” Underwood told the paper. “We look forward to being able to have the freedom to do things differently, whether it be in programming or community involvement. A lot of things the station has been doing in the community has been because Brandi and I pushed for it. We’ll be trying to change the image of the station to more of a community-oriented radio station. Brandi and I tried to do that before we were owners, but now we’ll be able to do that in a broader way.”

The weekday talk lineup includes a local morning show, The Wakeup Show with David Paul, 6 to 9 AM. Syndicated programs included Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Dave Ramsey, Gregg Knapp, Michael Reagan, Rusty Humphries, Dateline Washington, Coast to Coast AM and Talk Radio Countdown.
