The Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission has all but declared war on the nation’s chief television broadcast networks by declaring the agency “has an obligation to ensure that local broadcast TV stations meet their public interest obligations.”
This means network affiliates should, by statute, have a greater say in what they believe they should air — or have the right to pre-empt should they choose to do so.
