Carolina Christian Broadcaster Gets UHF Upgrade

A broadcast television station serving Upstate South Carolina with no less than 10 digital multicast channels has received the FCC’s blessing to transition from a VHF facility to a more powerful UHF channel.

WGGS-16, which serves Greenville-Spartanburg, is presently licensed for Channel 2. Owner Carolina Christian Broadcasting Inc. filed a Petition for Rulemaking requesting a substitution of Channel 2 for Channel 29 in the Table of TV allotments.

The licensee filed comments supporting its petition; no other comments were received.

Based on that activity, Video Division Chief Barbara Kreisman concluded that the move was in the public interest, approving the request.

Thus, the proceeding has been terminated, and Carolina Christian has 10 days to submit a minor change application for a construction permit specifying Channel 29.

A 3-node Distributed Transmission System (DTS) facility will be used.
