SoldAn AM station near the point where three western states come together is changing hands. It strives to bring strong local service to Needles, CA. The station is KTOX-AM.


Needles is located on the Colorado River in southeastern California near where the state borders both Arizona and Nevada.

The seller is Creative Broadcasting Services Inc., headed by David T. Hayes.

The buyer is Rubin Broadcasting Inc., owned 50-50 by Steven E. Rubin and Lauren E. Rubin.

The price is $88,500 cash. Associated commercial property is also being sold in a separate agreement for a total of $71,500, bringing the total value of the acquisition to $160,000.

KTOX is a Class C on 1340 kHz with 1 kW-U, ND.

The station publishes a manifesto on its website stating its belief in providing strong local content to the citizens in its coverage area.
It also offers very reasonably priced day sponsorships which anybody can buy and afford. For only $98, you get to put a message on the air – it’ll run 20 times. You could claim sponsorship for the station’s programming, say happy birthday to a loved one, whatever you want.
