On April 25, the radio broadcasting company led by former NYSBA leader Joe Reilly agreed to sell an AM station in Mechanicville, N.Y., and an FM translator in Saratoga Springs to a newly formed partnership tied to Ricki Lee’s Border Media and a husband and wife who own stations in the Plattsburgh area.
Now, Reilly is selling this partnership another AM/translator offering.
Reilly’s Empire Broadcasting Corp. is selling WABY-AM 900 in Watervilet, a suburb of Albany, and unbuilt FM translator W231DU at 94.1 MHz in Clifton Park to Saratoga Radio.
Saratoga Radio is a partnership between Ricki Lee and Aaron and Jessica Ishmael, husband-and-wife operators of A&J Radio.
It’s a bargain-basement deal for Reilly, who took all of Empire’s stations silent due to fiscal difficulties associated with the properties.
Empire is selling WABY and the translator for $20,000.
Equipment included in the deal includes a Nautel Amphet 400 watt AM transmitter, an Orban Optimod 9100, and 1 Barix box.
Representing Empire as the legal counsel in this transaction is Larry Miller of Garvey Schubert Barer.
A&J Radio operates WPLB-AM 107.1, and two Knoxville, Tenn.-area stations.
Lee and his wife, both foreign nationals, operate Border Media, licensee of WRGR-FM in Tupper Lake, N.Y.
The partnership has already produced one commonly owned station in addition to WAIX: WSSV-AM in Mechanicville.
