While it’s been long known that African Americans and Blacks of Caribbean descent overindex when it comes to their on-air and on-demand audio consumption, the latest Audio Today 2025 report from Nielsen Audio codifies fresh data illustrating this point.
Among the key takeaways in the latest report:

Among Black listeners, average audience levels were approximately 15% higher in the first half of 2025 compared to the prior year.

Radio remains the top reach medium among all major platforms on a monthly basis, as 92% of Black Americans use radio every month.

Among Black consumers; nearly three-quarters of daily ad-supported audio listening is done with radio, which is significantly higher than the general market average.

HALF of all radio listening by Black adults goes to either the Urban Contemporary|Hip-Hop/R&B or Urban Adult Contemporary|R&B format.
