On June 30, 2020, iHeartMedia brought to life a 24/7 nationally distributed audio services “dedicated to providing an objective, accurate and trusted source of continual news coverage with a Black voice and perspective.”
Come November 1, non-owned stations will be able to bring BIN: Black Information Network to listeners through a newly announced syndicated effort.
An iHeartMedia spokesperson confirmed BIN’s expansion on Thursday morning, bringing it to stations that aren’t owned by the largest licensee of AM and FM stations in the U.S. on a market-exclusive basis
“Stations can use the programming however it fits their needs,” the company said in a memorandum outlining the new offering through its Premiere Networks national audio arm. Affiliates may insert BIN’s short hourly newscasts anywhere in that hour, and “take dayparts where consistent, trustworthy news adds value.”
At the same time, the full 24/7 BIN format can be placed on an affiliate station.
Today, the BIN all-News format can be found on radio stations across 34 markets; it is also available on the iHeartRadio app.
