BBN Adds In New Mexico’s Biggest Market

Since December 1994, New Mexico’s largest market has been home to a commercially licensed FM offering bible teaching and modern worship over its Class C2 signal licensed to the town of Armijo.

Soon, the programming on this station will change, but it will remain committed to serving a Christian audience. And, it will do so under BBN ownership.

Bible Broadcasting Network is agreeing to purchase KNKT-FM 107.1, with a signal covering the Albuquerque market but not Santa Fe, N. Mex., from Calvary Chapel.

BBN is paying $1.4 million for KNKT. A $70,000 escrow deposit is being jointly held by Matthew McCormick of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth (Calvary’s legal counsel) and Gary Smithwick of Smithwick & Belendiuk, representing BBN.

Terms of the deal see BBN assuming a tower lease agreement with K2 Towers II LLC.

Serving as the broker in this transaction is Robert H. Branch, representing Calvary Chapel.

BBN is converting KNKT to a non-commercial FM.

For Calvary Chapel, it will continue to have a presence in Albuquerque via Class C0 giant KLYT-FM 88.3, which reaches both Santa Fe and Los Alamos, to the north, via the Sandia Peak master antenna farm.
