‘Bay and Beyond’ For a Lone Star FM

1

It has a signal covering such communities as Ganado, El Campo and its city of license, Edna, Tex., located between Victoria and metropolitan Houston.

Since 2008, it has had the same set of call letters and is known by locals as “96 Country.”

Soon, this FM will have a new owner.

Globecom Media has moved forward with signing off on an asset sale agreement that will see KIOX-FM 96.1 — a Class B — get spun to Bay and Beyond Broadcasting.

The deal was consummated on April 12 and filed with the Commission on Friday.

And, it includes guaranteed tower space on a structure owned by Boca Raton, Fla.-based Vertical Bridge and WorldCast IP codecs associated with the syndicated Saturday Night Gold program.

A $360,000 purchase price has been agreed upon by the parties. A $50,000 deposit is being held in escrow. At closing, $235,000 (minus the deposit) will be wired to the seller. The remaining $125,000 will be honored via a 10-year Promissory Note bearing 6% annual interest.

Bay and Beyond is led by David Rowell.

KIOX was once a radio station owned by Liberman Broadcasting, an entity reborn as Estrella Media and today no longer associated with Lenard or Jose Liberman. Liberman’s LBI Media paid $3.2 million for the property and KXGJ-FM (now KNTE-FM) in Bay City, Tex. Previous owners include Buckalew Media, which acquired KIOX in a 2008 transaction brokered by Kalil & Co.

However, that KIOX was a different facility than the one trading hands today.
