AT&T drops Tiger

AT&T has become the latest sponsor to drop its endorsement deal with Tiger Woods after revelations that the golfer had multiple extramarital affairs.

“We are ending our sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods and wish him well in the future,” AT&T said in a statement.

AT&T follows consulting firm Accenture, which on 12/13 dropped Woods as a spokesman. Accenture said that Woods was “no longer the right representative” for the firm.

RBR-TVBR observation: We can only assume that after a hiatus from the sport, Tiger’s PR folks will try to hype his comeback – in the moral and golfing arenas – to a new group of advertisers. The comeback itself will indeed be a big deal and sponsors will likely be interested. But for now the dust must settle and it will take a while to do that, because as far as sponsors are concerned for now, it’s “radioactive” dust.
