Anthem singers named for World Series games

Country music stars Trace Adkins and Ronnie Dunn plus Zooey Deschanel of the hit FOX show “New Girl” will perform the National Anthem prior to Games Two through Four, respectively, of the 2011 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. Coverage begins at 7:30 pm Eastern on FOX.


Trace Adkins, country music star and former Celebrity Apprentice finalist, will perform the National Anthem prior to Game Two tonight. Cardinals Hall of Famers Lou Brock and Red Schoendienst will throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch. Generald Wilson, Navy Petty Officer First Class Retired, will sing God Bless America. Adkins, one of Country music’s most versatile and accomplished entertainers, has earned 30 charted singles and 15 Top Ten hits gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums with total sales surpassing 10 million. His latest hit single “Just Fishin'” is the first from his tenth studio album, Proud to Be Here, which was released on Show Dog – Universal Music.

Ronnie Dunn will perform the National Anthem prior to Game Three in Texas on Saturday. Country music superstar Dunn is known for being one half of the best selling duo in country music history Brooks & Dunn. In 2011, he began his career as a solo artist, releasing his self-titled album, entering the charts at #1. His current single “Cost of Living” has reached Top 10 status and climbing.

Zooey Deschanel will perform the National Anthem prior to Game Four on Sunday. Deschanel, the star of Fox’s new hit show “New Girl,” has earned critical and popular acclaim for her band, She & Him, on which she collaborates with M. Ward. The band has released two albums, Volume 1 and Volume 2, boasting 21 original songs and four covers of personal favorites. They will release a holiday album, “A Very She & Him Christmas” this year on October 24th. Additionally the band has sold out tours in the US, UK and Europe.
