Another High Plains Drifter For Monte Spearman

In late 2017, Monte Spearman and his High Plains Radio Network were singled out by multiple brokers as an active buyer — a sign that local radio was alive and well and prosperous for the right sort of operator.

Today, Spearman is an asset shedder, with multiple asset sale agreements seen in recent weeks. On Thursday (3/12), another station sale from HPRN was submitted for FCC approval.

In March 2017, HPRN added KAFN-AM 690 in Benton, Ark., from Saline River Media for $50,000.

Today, that AM has an FM translator serving Benton.

Then, there is KWPS-FM 99.7 in Caddo Valley, Ark., a Class A branded as “Arkansas Rocks.”

Both KAFN and KWPS are being sold by HPRN to Big Benton Hot Springs for $10,000.

The licensee is owned by a name familiar to those tacking HPRN’s station sales of late: Charles Jayson Brentlinger.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Brentlinger is also in charge of Big Mountain Home, a.k.a. Broadcast Industry Group. HPRN is selling KZYP-AM in Malvern, KVRC-AM & KDEL-FM in Arkadelphia, KYXK-FM in Gurdon, KCMC-FM in Vila and FM translator K281CK in Sheridan, Ark., to that licensee.
