Radio-DisneyA Hispanic broadcaster serving the Miami market is the latest to step forward to claim a Radio Disney station – and the first that is not operating in the Religious format sphere. Broker: William B. Schutz (seller).

The station is WMYM-AM Miami.

The buyer is Actualidad Radio Group, headed by President/CEO Adib Eden.

ARG is in the business of providing News/Talk fare for the local Spanish-speaking population.

The station will be joining two others already in the fold.

Eden explained, “We believe that acquisition of 990 AM will enable us to expand our programming options to greater serve the South Florida community. The addition of 990 AM to our existing stations, WURN 1020AM and WLVJ 1040AM will allow us to expand to meet demand from listeners in our region who want more of our signature programs and outstanding local news reporting.”

WMYM-AM is a Class B on 990 kHz with 5-kW-U, DA2. Its signal is aimed towards the Atlantic, with primary coverage the reaches about to Fort Lauderdale to the north and Kendall to the south.

WURN-AM is a Class B on 1020 kHz with 8.9 kW-D, 890 W-N, DA2. It’s licensed to Kendall and is oriented just to the south or WMYM, with northern coverage to Hollywood and southern coverage to Homestead during the day; while not making it quite as far to the north at night.

WLVJ-AM is a Class B on 1040 kHz with 25 kW-D, 1.1 kW-N, DA2. Licensed to Boynton Beach, it pulls in pretty much all of West Palm Beach to the north and just misses Homestead to the south by day; at night, it doesn’t quite penetrate down to Miami, running from the midpoint of West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale.

Terms were not disclosed. RBR-TVBR was told by multiple sources that the price will be held in confidence until published by the FCC in the near future.
