Allison Harte dead at 58

Veteran Grand Rapids, MI DJ Allison Harte was found at the bottom of her family’s swimming pool on Tuesday (7/19). After two days in a hospital she was taken off life support Thursday (7/21) and died at age 58.


Harte, whose real name was Prudence Dykstra, began her local radio career in 1980 on WLAV-FM, having previously worked at a Detroit station. She also was a smooth-talking rock jock for WKLQ-FM and finally for WBFX-FM until leaving radio in 2007.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Dykstra was a multi-media consultant for Stafford Communications Group at the time of her death.

Clear Channel’s WBFX was inviting fans to post remembrances of Harte on its Facebook page. She is pictured (in the black jacket) with an unidentified person at a station remote.
