American General Media is one of the leading radio broadcasting companies serving the southern San Joaquin Valley of California. In the Bakersfield market, it owns and operates two AMs with an FM translator, and four FMs.

With the FCC’s blessing, it is about to add a fifth FM to the mix.

In an asset purchase agreement finalized Oct. 31 and filed this week with the FCC, AGM is acquiring KKCA-FM 95.7, licensed to Arvin, Calif., from Colt Comm LLC.

According to RadioDiscussions.com, KKCA debuted with a mix of country and rock music.

Now, it will be up to AGM to decide what to do with the Class A FM, which has a city-grade signal over most of Bakersfield.

AGM is paying $262,500 for the FM, with a $12,500 deposit made and held with escrow agent Fowler Media Consulting LLC.

Fowler served as the seller’s broker of record.

The buyer and seller have agreed to each pay $9,062.50 to Fowler for its services.

AGM is led by L. Rogers Brandon and intends to operate KKCA alongside News/Talk KERN-AM and FM translator 96.1 MHz; KISV-FM “Hot 94.1,” KEBT-FM 96.9 “La Caliente,” KKXX-FM “Hits 93.1,” ESPN Radio affiliate KGEO-AM 1230 and FM translator 101.1, and Hot AC KGFM-FM 101.5.
